Senhora do Mar, our favourite Eurovision song in 2008, was written by the Balkan counterpart of Ralph Siegel, Andrej Babic. This year he is back in Portugal, as one of the composers in Festival da Canção on 10 February. The entire list of composers and artists is as follows:

Many names were rumoured in Turkey, but none of them turned out to be true. Can Bonomo it will be, a relatively unknown name in the country itself. Bonomo released his debute album last year, Meczup, and is mainly known in the more alternative scene. Last year, for the first time ever, Turkey did not manage to make it to the finals of the Eurovision Song Contest. Hopefully he can change this for the better again.

Sunday, 18 December 2011 10:13News Round-up of the day. All titles in the Albanian semi finals have been revealed, the 50th edition of the festivali i Këngës is ready to kick off.
All details about the first semi fin al will be available here. The second semi final's participants you can find here. The semi finals will take place on 26 and 27 December, on the 28th December a show will be broadcast with artists from the entire history of the 50 year old contest. On 29 December the Albanians will select their hope for Baku.

Number two in the 2009 edition of Pop Idol in Slovakia, Miro Šmajda, will represent her country in Azerbaijan next May. A song has not been selected yet.

Well if Shakira can do it... ESC 2004 winner Ruslana will perform a song for this year's Euro 2012 football championship in Poland and Ukraine this summer. A demo of her song "Davaj graj" is on her website. You may have to refresh it a few times, but the song should start automatically if the site loads correctly.

In 1974 ABBA wrote Eurovision history by winning the contest with Waterloo. One year before that Ring Ring was released as the band's first studio recording. Now a series of collector's items is to be released...... Get ready for another day without too much news on the Eurovision front.

Demark's national final, Melodi Grand Prix, has received 678 songs to choose from. Ten of these will make it to the competition, and the results will be announced in January. We here at 12points.tv wonder if the "shirt without enough fabric" look as worn by 2011 entry A Friend in London will make a return in 2012.

Returning as a lyricist that is, writing a song for Maria Haukaas Storeng (Norway 2008). Rumours say the two of them will be invited as wildcars in Melodi Grand Prix, the Norwegian edition....

The Guardian reports today about some band name reports, among them Bucks Fizz and the Sugababes. One of the girls in Sugababes is Jade Ewen, who managed to sing the UK back into the top 10, in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. But that Sugababes is not supposed to be called Sugababes anymore....

Tom Dice managed to reach the first place in the Flemish charts this week. He previously did that with his Eurovision entry Me and my guitar (BE'10). In the Netherlands Elena Gheorghe (RO'09) has two songs in the local charts this week!
