JESC: Macedonia undecided yet

The steering group of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest got together in Hilversum this week. EBU's Sietse Bakker stated on twitter that he was carefully optimistic about the number of participating countries in the contest. This being despite the fact that Lithunaia and Latvia withdrew last week, mainly because of financial reasons.

Among the remaining countries, not all are ready to confirm yet that they will be heading for Amsterdam in December. Today Macedonia for instance still hasn't confirmed its participation. Macedonia is one of the three countries that always has been represented in the contest from the beginning in 2003. Ljupco Mirkovski, artistic director at the Macedonian broadcaster explained that this is mainly due to the fact that Macedonia is not happy about the system where neighboring voting mainly determines the results of the contest. Macedonia has not been very successful yet in the contest, their best results were 5th places in 2007 and 2008. Meanwhile Macedonia has given most points to Belarus, Serbia and Croatia in the contest's history. Two of them being in the neigborhood too....

Ding Ding Dong, the Macedonian 2007 entry is one of our favorits in the contest so far.
