Tonight in Norway: a babe, a band and a bear cub move on to Oslo Spektrum MGP Final in 2 weeks.
The second semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix in Norway has ended. The public has frantically texted and called in their votes. Of eight songs, three will move on to the final in two weeks. The Norwegian public picked:
THE BABE: Malin Reitan - "Crush". A former JESC participant, Malin made an appearance with an upbeat electro song with ballet backing dancers in tutus. An audience favourite, clearly, with lyrics like "you know/everytime we're talking/I can't stop shaking". Someone should tell Malin that there are drugs for that kind of thing. Hardly a douze pointer for Norway, they must have had their reasons for putting it through.
THE BEAR: Tommy Fredvang - "Make It Better". Tommy (picured above) is a former X-Factor Norway contestant and the only one in tonight's competition with a beard to beat. A frantic search for the worlds "tommy fredvang gay" came up with nothing, but his song was appropriate enough.
THE BAND: Plumbo - "Ola Nordmann". The only entry in native Norwegian tonight, this was a really catchy celtic song complete with obligatory flute. Not really to my taste but a very good choice if it went forward to Baku. Have a listen here:
This is the song that we here at 12points HQ feel should have gone right through to the final. "Shapeshifter" by the fabulous Rikke Normann is a combination of a David Guetta/Katy Perry song and is 1000 times fantastic. Here you go:
