High with the bookmakers and in all the polls, duo Mørland & Debrah Scarlett will represent Norway in this year's Eurovision, with the dark love song 'A Monster Like Me'.
Mørland & Debrah Scarlett are obviously looking forward to going to Vienna, but also admit they don't really know what to expect. For both it will be their first visit to the Austrian capital.
Talking about their win in Melodi Grand Prix, Debrah told us: "It was amazing and shockingly surprising because we weren't known in Norway. Having the great opportunity of winning, and that Norway felt we were the ones, was very cute and awesome at the same time." When asked if being one of the favourites feels like an extra responsibility: "We have the responsibility to perform as best as we can. It's a great honor to know that a lot of people like the song Mørland wrote and composed." Mørland adds, smiling: "In the end, it was the Norwegian people that chose us, so it's their fault. We just do our best and enjoy the experience."
When they would win this year, Mørland would love Eurovision to take place again in Oslo, so they could just take the tram to the show. Would they compete again, like Lena did for Germany in 2011? Mørland: "No." Debrah: "This is a once in a lifetime experience and I never thought that I would be in such a competition. I just wanna enjoy it now. I'm young and I will have a lot of other experiences as well."
We at 12points.tv love the videoclip for 'A Monster Like Me', but the stage presentation in Vienna will be totally different. Mørland: "We did consider something like the video, but the stage is made of glass screens so we couldn't have a table or anything on it." Debrah: "And we can't throw water. But it's also about focusing on the music and keeping it calm so the audience can listen to the sound and the lyrics. We try not to have a big production which will distract from the music."
Mørland & Debrah Scarlett will perform in the 6th place in the 2nd Semi Final with the song 'A Monster Like Me'. Good luck both!
